This is Katie. She bakes the best cakes. She celebrates well and is full of joy. What you hear her say in what she writes below is the perfect picture of her heart. She's real. And honest. God holds her squarely in the palm of His hand, and she knows it. And she lets Him. And she reminds people that it's also true for them. For us.

My mom will tell anyone who asks that the best parenting advice is to know your child and to parent accordingly. And that is what she did. And that is what she still does. At some point (I think it was when I was about 18 months old), she became one of my very best friends.

Meet Corlischa. She is one of those people who is always all-in. With the Lord. With her husband. With her friends. With whatever is going on at the moment. She is fully committed but not in a way that makes it seem like a duty. Her commitment looks more like faithfulness. She is full of joy and excitement that are contagious.

I met Brooke during the week of sorority recruitment. She kind of stalked me. In the funniest way. You have to understand that there were approximately, well, 10 people from the great state of Texas at Elon University in 2005 and even less from Houston. She was one of them. So was I.
Endurance.I had to have written that word over a year ago. It was in answer to a question about what I sensed God was teaching me, how I sensed He was growing me.
Cathy walks in great wisdom and quiet strength. She walks with the Lord in her daily life, seeking to know and love Him more each day. I got to know Cathy this summer through a Bible study small group, and I am grateful for her compassion and her wisdom and the way that she has welcomed me (and so many others) into her life.
I have gotten to know Kate through church, mostly as she passed her "walker" over the gate to me into the nursery. We would exchange a few words as I took her youngest, and we would exchange a few more words as I passed him back when the service was over. But here is the thing about Kate--even in those brief exchanges, she is intentional.
Laurence is funny and clever and genuine. She is easy and fun to be around. She is also wise and discerning. I love to hear her thoughts about all things--from trending shoes to the ways of the Lord. Our moms were friends before we were, and I'm so grateful for the generational friendships that our families share. She has spoken truth and encouragement and wisdom into my life countless times.
I am so grateful that Laura was willing to share the ways that the Lord is meeting her during this season of her life. If you know Laura and her husband, you know that they are full of God's Spirit and that His joy is evident in them.
I know Darcee because she is my brother's girlfriend. I count her my friend for many more reasons than that (although I do love her for loving him the way that she does!). Darcee has a quiet, unrushed way about her that reminds you to live in the moment you're in. She is thoughtful in a way that is completely personal--treating everyone as an individual, getting to know you for who you are, loving you with all of your quirks. And she is strong.
I have gotten to know Ashley over the past year or so, and I am so grateful for her friendship. She is open and willing to share the deeper things of her heart. She is also hilariously funny and fun! Jesus has not made this woman dull! She is an amazing cook and one of the most welcoming people that I know. She has a way of making people feel a part of things, of making them feel comfortable and at home.
