So… It’s been a really long time. But I miss this. And now a few people have actually read it. On their own. So I’m re-inspired to continue this little endeavor.
I’m exhausted tonight so I thought I’d just post a real quick update to get us all on the same page, and then I’ll start posting regularly again. I quit my job at the beginning of November. Since then (after taking some time to just hang out over the holidays), I’ve been doing little odd-jobs for people (mostly babysitting) and have been helping a Bible study teacher write a book. It’s called ghostwriting – very mysterious sounding, isn’t it?! Basically, I put all of her information into words. It’s really fun, and I’m loving it. I’m thinking about volunteering with a few different organizations and will keep you updated if any of those work out.
Basically, right now, I feel like my life is this taxi ride. God is at the wheel, giving me a tour of this city, my life, and every once in a while, He asks, “Would you like to get out here? Would you like to go and check that out?” And so, although for the first time in my life I don’t have a plan, I’m feeling really excited about the opportunity to really live day-to-day and moment-to-moment. I have a card I bought myself that is taped to my mirror. It reads: “She realized she was missing a great deal by being sensible.” God doesn’t call us to be sensible, robotic people. I am convinced more and more each day that He calls us into an adventure of relying on Him, and I feel that is what I’m doing. I hope it’s what you’re doing (not that it means you should quit your job – that’s just how my path looks right now). But I hope that whatever you’re doing, He’s with you. And I hope you know it. And I hope it brings you great joy and excitement!
I went on a cruise with my grandparents for two weeks in January. I was the youngest person on the ship by several decades. If my parents had joined us, they would have been the second and third youngest people on the ship! But I loved it. I got to see places in Central and South America that I would probably never have seen, and I got to spend time with my grandparents (paternal) whom I absolutely adore. I also watched more Fox News and did more USA Today crossword puzzles than you can imagine! Very educational.
My brother moved to Alabama to go to school with his girlfriend. He’s so happy! It’s fun to see him loving his life so much. And I love his girlfriend too, so even if I can’t see him as much as I did when he was living here, I’m glad they’re together… and I need to plan a trip to visit them…
I think that pretty much catches you up to speed. Not too much going on but enough to keep me busy and excited to get up each morning. There is joy in living with our Creator. And there is joy in loving those He has created!
